In cases such as sprains and strains, foment the part affected with hot water. Dry thoroughly. Stimulate well by massaging. Apply a little full strength Penetrene (enough to wet the hair) several times, each time working it well in with the fingers and thuimb from the outside to the centre of the trouble. Apply 3 times per day for 3 or 4 days, then once a day and at night. Aply Penetrene wash under a cotton wool bandage.
To use as an after work-out or race leg wash, mix 13ml of Penetrene with 750ml of water (or witch hazel), 250ml of vinegar and 0.6g saltpetre. Apply freely and bandage under cotton wool for 2 - 3 hours or overnight.
A muscle wash can be made by adding 13ml of Penetrene to 1 litre of water. Sponge the leg and body muscles with the mixture.
